Calling Card

Privacy policy

Last updated 23 September 2026. This covers the Calling Card extension for Chrome and this website.

The short version. Calling Card keeps everything on your computer. There is no account, no analytics and no server of ours that sees what you look up. The only information that ever leaves your computer is the visit to the site you asked about, a request for a small file with Pro's price and the free plan's daily allowance, and, if you buy Pro, your license key when it is checked with Gumroad.

What Calling Card reads

Nothing is read until you ask for it, by holding your key over a link (or, if you turned it on, by resting your pointer on a link). When you do, Calling Card fetches that site's public pages: the page the link points to, its home page, and the contact, legal notice, team and about pages it links to. Links to addresses on your own network, such as your router, a printer or an office intranet, are never read. It reads the pages on your computer to find the contact details the site publishes, such as email addresses, phone numbers and profile links.

These pages are fetched without your cookies, so the site sees an anonymous visit, not you. The one exception is a setting called "Read sites that draw themselves with scripts": when it is on and a site sends an empty page, Calling Card opens that site's page in a background tab for a second to read it (the page only, without any extra instructions a link might carry), and that visit is a normal one that carries your cookies. You can turn it off in the settings.

What it keeps, and where

None of this is sent to us. We have no copy of it and could not see it if we wanted to. If you export your leads, the spreadsheet is saved by your browser to your own computer.

What it sends, and to whom

What it never does

The contact details it shows

Calling Card only shows details that a business publishes on its own website for people to contact it. It is up to you to use them lawfully and respectfully, including the anti-spam and data protection rules where you and the business are.

Removing your data

Delete saved leads and remembered lookups from the extension's settings at any time. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything it kept on your computer.
